Chimpanzees are our nearest relative on this earth, sharing 98% of the same DNA. No wonder we find them so fascinating. Chimpanzees can be found in many national parks in Uganda but we most often visit Kibale Forest or Kaniyo Pabidi in the Budongo Forest where several communities have been habituated to allow close and observation for the traveler and the chimps. Sometimes you will find yourself within 15 feet. At the same time these forests are also full of over a dozen other primates and hundreds of birds. The forests themselves are quite magical and these visits are on foot so it makes for a lovely day of walking safari.
