There are 700 mountain gorillas in the world and more than half of them are found in Uganda. We go to Bwindi and Mgahinga National Parks, and also to Rwanda just over the border to bring you to best opportunities to visit the gorillas in their mountain homes. The national parks have developed a very respectful program that allows small groups with experienced guides to make one hour visits to a gorilla family. You may see the giant silverback lying in the sun near his family, or a mother carrying a baby, or the juveniles teaching themselves to swing through the trees or to pound their chests. One of our guests shared a video of just this moment when a youngster was learning to swing by the vines. We never imagine that these young ones must learn their skills just like our own children learning to walk.
